In former times, communication systems were typically designed based on either mathematical analysis or empirically laboratory measurements. Due to the increasing complexity of modern communication systems, analytical solutions in many cases do not exist, while lab experiments demand the availability of many expensive devices, in order to be able to build the complete system. A third way to investigate a communication system is to simulate it with the help of a computer. Due to the reasons mentioned above, simulation tools have become an integral part in the work of the engineer, and make it possible to develop systems comfortable and time efficient.
This is the motivation behind this practical lab: to have the first experience from the work procedure of the engineer.
